Tomek Albin was born in 1981 in Warsaw, Poland. He represents the wave of young Polish artist photographers. Still in high school, following his passion, he accepted a scholarship in Germanyto work and learn at the Die Fotoetage advertising agency while simultaneously learning the craftsmanship of reporter photography shooting for the Die Tageszeitung TAZ Bremen newspaper. His learning path took him from the basics of reporter photography, climbing the ladder from assistant photographer to lead photographer working with various advertising agencies to finally being offered a lecturer position at one of the most prestigious schools in Poland: the Warsaw Academy of Photography teaching a course in commercial photography.
In 2001 he completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, receiving a degree in Multimedia Communication. Since the beginning of his adventure with photography Tomek skillfully combines his passion for immaculate and perfectly planned landscape shots with very technical and sterile commercial automotive and still-life work. He is represented in Poland by one of the most respected photographic agencies Shootme Photographers & Production. His work has received substantial international recognition, being selected for Still Life Selected Views 2008 and 2009, as well as Luerzer's Archive 2008 i 2009. Together with the Saatchi&Saatchi agency he has received a large variety of prizes. Some of them being: Silver Drum and Silver KTR for the USSR campaign in 2010, Silver and Bronze KTR for the Makatka campaign in 2009, as well as the Bronze EPICA, Gold KTR in 2008 for his Ariel Color and Ariel White projects. In 2011 Tomek exhibited his autobiographical series of landscape photographs entitled Auto Fire in three galleries across Poland: Rondo Sztuki in Katowice, DAP in Warsaw, as well as the famous Cracow Pauza.
Since a few years now, Tomek has been also commercially cooperating with befriended companies specializing in CGI technology. This cooperation resulted in one of Tomek’s most famous photographs. Together with a team of CGI specialists they recreated one of the most beautiful cars from the times of the iron curtain: Syrena Sport; placing it on the roof of a building overlooking contemporary Warsaw city centre.
Tomek combines his professional photography work, with a boundless passion for movies, music
and world travel. For the past four years he has been compiling a powerful collection of landscape photographs from all over the world. His night photography is particularly unique and mystical.
Hour long expositions coupled with his beloved analogue Mamiya 7, gracefully manipulated
by retouch, result in an exceptional, for our times, final effect. Not to mention that they allow for showcasing the end results in very large formats.
